Cry for Help
In an emotional plea, board nominee, Evelyn Moore appealed to her colleagues and the community as a whole to pull together and work for the common cause.
In her words, “I heard from other owners and residents who are not happy with the current situation and complain about things they don’t like around here. But, I have yet to hear or see any emails saying ‘What can we do???’ Nothing can change unless people get together and work together! And, nothing happens overnight!” (Click here for the full text)
Amidst the summary resignation of the current board and Gail Jeffrey's resignation to start a new business, the challenges the board nominees are facing during this critical transition period are significant. The community has shown a great deal of complacency both now and in the past and has allowed the current situation to evolve. The problems are real and need to be addressed sooner or later. It is evident how problematic dependence upon just a few can be. The legitimacy of the new board has been questioned, but any deficiency cannot be solely the fault of those that volunteered.
In order to reduce the budget, while improving Mirror Lake, more volunteers willing to provide services are required. Some have promised their support, but more are needed. The board nominees met on October 16 and decided to manage Mirror Lake utilizing the Mirror Lake office and external support, the details to be determined after a full assessment of the specific needs and resources available.
Evelyn met with the current board and is putting together a summary of what was discussed. She also met with Homer Campbell to look at the property and assess what is needed to improve it. Arrangements have been made with Gail Jeffrey to work a couple hours a week to keep the books and office in order until the new board steps in and a decision has been made as to the specifics.
Quoting Evelyn again: “Come on people! Let’s pull together and work for the common cause! I can tell you right now I am hitting a brick wall and will not keep beating my head against this wall if no one else cares. Quit complaining and do something about it!”
